David Martinez from Guatemala started playing guitar when he was 13. David auditioned for Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA when he was 20, and he received two scholarships from Berklee, The World Scholarship Tour and the B.E.S.T.
After finishing his studies at Berklee, David moved to Los Angeles where he had the opportunity of playing and recording with a wide variety of different artists and bands. He was part of the internationally known band Christafari in 2006 & 2007. David recorded on their album “To the Foundation” and soon after joined them on tours to Europe and Argentina.
As a musician he has had the opportunity to teaching several workshops and participate in several concerts and recordings in countries such as United States, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Argentina, England, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark. David has also had the opportunity of playing with musicians like Abraham Laboriel, John Peña, and David Garfield.
Besides of his musical participations, David has also participated in the Academic Direction of several musical schools in Guatemala, Providence (RI), Boston (MA), Los Angeles, (CA), North Hollywood (CA) and Ciudad Juarez (Mexico), where besides being professor he has written specific material for each school such as books for the learning of guitar and contemporary harmony.
In 2013 David finished his studies at California State University of Los Angeles, where he received a Master of Music in Composition & Arrangements. Also, he released a new album entitled By Hands, a unique blend of Smooth Jazz and Fusion styles.
